User-Contributed Transcription Aug. 1st 1864My Dear Sir:I have yours of the 30th.  It seems to me a great mistake that you have not ere this been in communication with the Commissioner of Internal Revenue respecting the tax to be paid on our book.  The law has been a month passed; all have known that it was about to be put in execution; yet here we are in August, and nothing has been done.I will write to the Commissioner to-night; but we ought to have had his ear before now.over
