Description Letters, diaries, account book, map and biographical sketch, most in connection with Mather’s activities as one of three commissioners appointed by the government to survey and mark a route from Missouri to Santa Fe in 1825. 
User-Contributed Transcription and judiciously and these were by no means confined to that communion in which he was reared and habitually worshipped among the earliest institutions of learning established in the then young state were Illinois College and Monticello Seminary These foundations were laid under the auspices of the Congregational Society whose active agents in the premises were Revs Ellis--Jenny the Beechers and kindred spirits -- Mr Ellis had married in Kaskaskia the intimate personal friend of Mrs Mather and they very naturally sought counsel and support
