[decorative initial: A] My Dearest Rose -
Because our Rome
Pony Express functions
like all Roman things, I rather
doubt you received my last letter.
This is just a short note to let
you know I received your
thoughtful Chirstmas prezzy and
thank you very much.  I just
hope this letter gets through.
Could you believe that a letter mailed
from Rome and postmarked Dec. 12
was just received by me Jan. 7? And
this is inter-city! Our mail is
practically hopeless.  I'm just now
receiving letters from N.Y. postmarked
Dec. 10, 12 & 14.  Oh, well, who cares?
I love you -- miss you -- and please
write when you can spare a moment.
Regards to Harriette --
much love to you -- Lydia [Amadeo]
