I met a man (don't get ideas, he's 45,
married, etc.) who has become so
enraptured by my "charm" (he says)
and who has turned out to be a real
intellectual.  He has taken me out
on the town, shown me Rome
through the eyes of a Roman, in a
magnificent guide who knows every
little detail about every monument,
street, fountain, etc. has taken
me to Orvieto, a charming medieval
town nearby; Lago de Bolseno --
in fact, he's occupied my time
most enjoyably -- we discuss
Shakespeare, Shaw, Contemporary Writers,
Bach, Pop Art, Psychology, etc.
He is well versed and expresses
definite opinions in all of the arts
and the surprising thing is that
he is a Physics & Math Professor
(who are usually boring people). But
he is an officer in the Italian Army
(he still has his rank) was P.O.W.
of the Germans, fought here in Italy
as a Partisan -- so you can just
about imagine how delighted I am
with my new found Roman friend.
