User-Contributed Transcription you see, dearest, my heart is so full, and I could say so much about our three years, that I can hardly say anything. I knew you would remember the day, and I wanted to write, but knew not when a letter would find you there. So I wrote a great long one, three or four times over, in my head, and tried to be as contented as possible. Please do not speak again of anything undone on your part towards making the years happy. What more could you have done, my inmost heart thanks you, my precious friend, for all your love and care. I used to feel sometimes. when sick at Du Quoin, that I never should see New England again or live to love you & little Mayo - though I knew not the Dr's true thought of me. But I know it was your own gentleness, sympathy, watching and nursing, more than all things else that gave me strength & made me well again. I mean, of course, with Our Heavenly Father's favor & blessing. I too, dear Isaac, believe it is my will to be a true wife & mother, and I would turn away from all the sad mistakes I make, and the manifold causes I have for regrets, & press forward toward the mark. God will help us both in every duty - and you know not how much your loveing & constant overlooking of my faults aids me in striving to be what I ought. That we may live not only for ourselves and ours but to make the world better is the wish of your ever loving Nettie.
