User-Contributed Transcription But in all this way in which I have been led I can plainly see the goodness of God it has been all mercy - riches of mercy - & O how unmerited - & how he has blessed me in my children. What a blessing and honour to have such a son as Joseph to give back to my heavenly Father - an earnest of future blessednessAp. 1st Well I dont know how I came to scratch down all this stuff all about my foolish old self some sentences just begun others not finished. If I did not feel to lazy & incapable to write a decent letter I would burn this but if I conclude to let you have it, you will please do it for me you will have it that Mother worries - We perhaps I will conclude not to write any more nor say any thing about you & then of I do worry it cant worry youBut I do not - God grant that I may not be deceiv'd I think that my heart is fix'd - trusting in God I have no trouble, vexation, or sadness from any or all other sources compar'd with that of my sinful heart Tis possible I may be mistaken but I think that I have a deep, constant, content whatever my appearance may be Can I have recieved so much good from the hand of God & shall I not take patiently willingly even joyfully recieve whatever he orders I have been a remarkable Monument of his goodness because while I have been exceedingly and provokingly sinful wayward & foolish He has followed me all the way along with the blessing of his mercies & goodness & Christ appears no near so precious to me as if all created Being & thing could never seperate me from Him
