User-Contributed Transcription Dunbarton May. 22. 1850 Dunbarton, Mayy 22, 1850.My dear friend, This day public duties are over, and, with much pleasure I commence a reply to your last kind letter. This is the third day of school, and I have been very happy, thus far. I could not desire more obedient - or affectionate pupils. It almost five me pain sometimes to see how hard they strive to give me pleasure. I have only one or two scholars with whom I was unacquainted - most of them, I have known for years. The recitations besides reading, spelling and the usual general exercises are Geography, grammar, Arithmetic and Algebra. There will a class in Whelpley's Compend, as soon as books can be obtained, - find my labors very much less fatiguing than at Goffstown; - school at G. - closed very pleasantly. We had a number of visitors the last afternoon. The school room was decorated
