User-Contributed Transcription at ease if he has not something new to read. he is mov'd just where and when he wishes to be so far as he makes known his wishes he does sit up more than he did two months ago is mov'd about as often in the night as when Alfred was here sometimes 2 sometimes 3 times in the night sits up in the evening till 8 1/2 or 9 oclock since we have had peas beans squash etc he has prefer'd it and has made his diet almost entirely of vegetables I am some inclin'd to think that more meat if it was good fresh such as he likes would be better for him - it would be convenient if we liv'd near a good Market but he will hardly ever tell what he prefers. I have to guess at every thing about him. he sent to Eliab to send him some peaches and seems to enjoy them very much is very fond of them I suppose you are anxious to know ever thing you can about him. Therefore have I written perhaps you had better not give him any intimation of it his appetite is pretty good his countenance & he looks as well as he did I think his feet are not so apt to be cold as last year at this time. I dont know as Joseph would dislike my writing this if he knew it but I suspect he would for he did or pretended to because I wrote to you about his laying down so often I dont love to write anything that I dont let him read haven't before am writing with my papers in my lap when it is time I was abed doubtful whether you can read it allChickens are big enough so he eats them now he is very much taken up with "Prescotts Mexico & Peru"this is scratch'd off in such a haste I wish you would burn it soon as you have read it
