User-Contributed Transcription good, old man! He said to my aunt, a few days before he died - "You will not come to see me many more times- I shall soon die- but I'm not afraid - not a bit afraid to trust myself with Christ" No tear dimmed his eye as he said this. O for this childlike confidence in God! We cannot mourn, but rather rejoice and give thanks that, tired of life, the "good may die." My grandparents now, are all dead. I am very fond of the society of old people, and I dearly love to visit them - but thy are all gone now. My mind is all in confusion to night. A great many people are sick here, and then I have been reading and hearing about the cholera in Cairo and Springfield. I have thought about it, because I could not help it, till I know not what to do with myself. Perhaps you will think I am foolish to be troubled - but I do hope you will escape. Sept. I believe, is considered one of the worst months for sickness in the year. Do you find the "Well Spring" and "Messenger" where you are now? These little papers continue to be full of interest. Our last number of the Home Missionary told us much of Illinois, and the improvements -there projected. The Central Rail-Road was noticed among other things. There was an extract from a letter
