User-Contributed Transcription Tuesday-} I think I spoke, in a previous letter, of a visit from a very dear friend - Emilie Peavey. A friend of hers, Dr. Putnam, accompanied her. Dr. P. is a very distant relative of ours. We call him cousin. Since writing last, another dear friend has been here, Elizabeth Burnham, with a Mr. Hatch, of whom I speak, because he is a Maine gentleman - a graduate of Waterville College. Lizzie tells me he thinks he has seen you and that you were member of College at the same time, and of the same society, while in College, though in difference Institutions. Emilie and Lizzie, with Suzette Webster of Barnstead, N.H. were my dearest school-mates at Gilmanton Academy, and we have ever since been friends, in the strictest sense of the word. Emilie is to be married in the Spring, and perhaps Lizzie also. They are dear girls, and their letters, particularly Emilie's, I prise very much. Mrs. Hale, my teacher when at G., has written to me for more than four years. She is a lady of 45 years, I should think; and her letters are a treasure. By this time, I hope you have been made glad by news from your friends in Maine
