User-Contributed Transcription Antoinette Dunbarton N.H.July 19, 1851Mt. Hopkins Aug. 2 1851This perhaps makes it purer. I never saw whiskey used as you mention, or any ardent spirits. Horrible, is it not, to be taught from very childhood, to love the drunkards beverage! Your decision may have a good influence. I tried hard to learn to drink coffee, but did not succeed. Do you have a Well, or only a substitute for one? I was just wondering too, whether you drink a "glass of water," for I used to drink from saucers, cups, bowls, pitchers etc. The rest of the family are just at supper now { I do not go without mine, by the way, - I only ate it quick} Perhaps you are eating in that airy room with two open ends. I think that must be a good, cool place some of these warm days. If I knew how the house stands, and the direction of the barn from it, I should have the whole picture in my mind. Does it stand on the open prairie or near to the timber? You have a Work Bench for your table - my trunk was mine. I used to write, kneeling before it sometimes. But oftener I sat upon it
