User-Contributed Transcription My Dear SonWe had written the enclos'd letter and C took I t to the P.O but finding one from you he brought it back. I suppose there is not much that is new to you in it- we were indeed greatly surpris'd to know that you were at Orono I could hardly refrain from tears to think how you might have come home a few days it seems now since you are so near as if I cannot wait till your school is done before I see you but I must spell patience I suppose. It seems that you have a prospect of making some money as well as attaining some other advantages on the whole. I am very glad- unless it is going to be a permanent loss or disadvantage your leaving college this term.L seems in haste to get back to Bangor if she continues well as now. She means to go back there by the first of next week I hate her go but perhaps it is best - I wish I could be there too I should be very glad to be making you some shirts if I can get some cloth. And I will be knitting you some stockings, tell if there is any thing else I can do for you - you must not forget to write me all about yourself and everything I want to know and in particular what you intend to do with yourself in future. Do you mean to continue to teach, or do you aspire to something else after a time. Do write. If I could fly like a dove I would see you very soon.God bless you my Son.B.M FreesM.J RingH.W.
