User-Contributed Transcription She did not call at Mr Browns at all - she staid in Anns school mostly attended to drawing and has made astonishing proficiency considering the chance she has had to learn - Had she better have anything more to say to J.W.F - she has had almost no conversation with him except by letter she charg'd him not without reason with not believing the Bible - which he is not willing to acknowledge I guess. She don't seem to know what to do but no one can tell her & there it is. I want to know more particularly about how you get along. I am afraid you are taxing yourself too hard you certainly are if you allow your self to set up late at night. I intreat you my Dear Son not to do it make it a rule to be in bed as early as ten o' clock don't say now my health is good it won't hurt me. I'll risk it you may regret it when it is too late what license have you for disobeying the physical any more than the moral laws or to suppose that you can do it with impunity. Charles (as usual) is in a heck of perplexities for want of money. Lucy bothers him about getting married & wants to know when? He tells if he could only get money to pay for his publishment he should right off he and L have done pretty slick joking now & then - Jane is quite a help about doing chores - she has a good memory & learns pretty well. She is reading the testament through has got to Corinthians can repeat most all of the 5th of Matthew - Mr Daniel Dow is living yet no other person much sick in town that I know of - Alfred Holman been very sick in Bangor - D you have the Bangor Gazette to read? How Mr Walker does bang the London Alliance - we don't take any kind of newspaper!! C. says he wont till he can get money to pay for one in advance the boys send us papers sometimes - I say again go to bed early.Your Affectionate MotherI'll write next time. Great hurry. Going to singing school - most dark. Sleep full. Lucy
