User-Contributed Transcription Antoinette Dunbarton N.H.Sept. 23. 1851Jonesboro Oct. 18 Dunbarton, Sept. 23, - 1851 Jonesboro Oct. 18My dear friend, More than five weeks have passed since I have heard from you. It seems a very long time; but I presume a letter must be somewhere on the way. I was thinking to night- that if you are as anxious as I, for a letter, you would like to have me write without waiting for an answer, so I have taken my pen and commenced. I am watching to night by my dear, sick mother's bedside. She has been unable to sit up more than a few minutes at once, for more than a week. At first, she took a violent cold, and, for two or three days, coughed almost incessently and very hard, - and at night was deprived almost entirely of sleep. This took away the little strength she had, and she has since been completely prostrated. We hope she is beginning to be a little better, though there seems hardly any perceptible difference. I have had the whole care of her, by day & night: I am very thankful that I am at[left-hand side] send much love. I hope you have had good news from friends in Maine before this. I feel quite anxious to know about your sister's health. If I write longer, I shall be late in mailing this. Yours ever truly, Antoinette
