User-Contributed Transcription reason of Hay Oats Buck wheat etc. Jane & I stay at home to keep house & take care of little Joseph who is a nice Smart boy just beginning to run alone, a handsomer boy than Charlie except that his eyes are not so bright & pretty. They are about to unite two Meeting house in this town- the Universalists one and the Baptists one tis expected that both will be rais'd this all and the outsides finish'd perhaps Charles thinks he shall have 300 bushels of Buck wheat has thresh'd 15 bushels & we are eating it in the form of hot fritters. Had a letter from Lucy yesterday she is really getting better -- gets up & down stairs & all about the house 30 We had letters from Eliab & Lucy last night and what rejoiced us more than those, was we had one from you directed to Charles written Oct. 9th - & I infer from Eliabs letter they have had one from you of later date. Eliab is boarding at Lucys - Loafing his says, I think it will be good for his health to follow that calling for some little time at least. Lucy really seems to be getting well. But you have later inteligance from them than I can write I presume. I rather expect to go back to Bangor in a few weeks to spend the winter or a considerable part of itWe do all feel anxious about your health but we dare not advise you to come home now when the cold weather is increasing lest it should affect your health even more unfavorably
