User-Contributed Transcription I sent the old shirt old crape for duster ball of yarn to toe off your stocking, will send you some more when we have some wool carded -- Charlie is a touch smart little fellow is out these cold days mercury down to zero or 2 or 3 above half way down to the barn & stays out trying to saw now under the shed with out any mittens or cap he can open the door so he can go out and in when he pleases -- when Joseph sits down on the lounge he spring along to lift up his feet -- I have news on mother hopes to tell you you know we have "Society Meeting at the corner the only meeting held in town now -- & whereas there are at put on by some half dozen now they have increas'd very much and prayer meeting, every Sabbath evening somewhere in the neighborhood Some of the time at Almeda's this evening at Mr Bumps there were 30 there -- I have not been to meeting today or evening as I thought Jos had rather I would not -- Almeda thinks that Lucy has obtained a hope you know she has been very thoughtful a good while may we not hope that God is about to display the riches of his mercy towards us -- not for our own prayers and tears but for his great names sake -- I have felt unusual heavyness of thirst with earnest pleading tears & sleeplessness 2 or three months past when thinking of this town and of Charles in particular -- It seemed to me we were all cast off and forgotten and deserv'd to be -- But O the tender mercy and long suffering of God - Pray for us - for meMonday Evening 25thIf you have any letter from Isaac send it and send back Ann's letter if convenient -- write a good long letter & tell me how Mrs. Crosby does &c -- If Charles hands you any money take it & I will tell you what to do with it next time I send those old gloves you can let Jane wear? them or turn them for her they are too small for Lucy-- Had a letter from Mariah Stevens to night
