User-Contributed Transcription I suppose you know how we had a tame fox We have got a tame muskrat what runneth about the house & is about as tame as a kitten, eats milk, parsnips roots, leaves of turnip cabbage beet & bean & pea pods & most everything else. His castle is in the closet west of the chimney whence he can sully out to the kitchen or pasture. He hath dug him a hole one entrance being in the closet & the other behind the backroom chimney. He is the pet, as cleanly as a kitten & not so mischievous. Upon being called mukky-mukkee,-mukky-he cometh. We caught a young wild duck & kept it a spell but it would not grow tame & we let it go. One day Isaac & I went up to Booby Brook fishing & caught 5 great pickerel, 2 eels & duck & one mussquash. We have got about done haying. Charles has got a cradle & cradled acres of wheat & 1 acre of oats.Ann got home last Friday night so in a very good plight. Only she left 2 of Isaac's books & Mrs Bush's letter tools & ? behind- Isaac came home the twenty sixth of July one weeke before the vacation commenced, & is going back the last of this week I suppose. He is going back to the same place again (Mr. Walkers) which is a very good place I guess. He & James F. Walker have corresponded during the vacation. J.F.W is a brother of Mr. Asa Walker about 20 years old I believe, studying law.Eliab was intending to write some in his letter but he cut his hand today pretty bad so that he cannot.
