User-Contributed Transcription Samuel has been to Oldtown today. It has been very warm yesterday and today - but is cooler tonight since the rain. Lucy is getting Percie to sleep and E. & Maria have gone to their room & Sabra has taken sleeping little Mayo up to bed, so here I sit alone now. O how I should love to see you tonight. Lucy engaged a new girl while we were gone to Milo - Mary Hamlet - I think from Brownville. The stage brought her today. Lucy heard afterwards that she was 'light-fingered,' and she feels as if she should not keep her long. Still she is bright & active & may improve and be a good girl. Eliab is as good as can be about most things but he will be naughty some. I told him I should tell you he asked me naughty questions! Such as this How do you like Isaac? Then he'll get close up to Mallie and kiss her and ask me if you do so, and if I like to have you - and he makes my cheeks burn about every day. What would you do to him! - 'Dear Isaac, I am glad you and I have so good brothers and sisters. I do love them all, and am generally enjoying this visit. Caty has this day gone home. Lucy thought she could get along with the new girl better without her. Sabra has been not very well to day, but seems better to night. I think she will be quite well
