User-Contributed Transcription Home, May 28. 1852My dear friend,- This is a beautiful Sabbath afternoon so calm and still that it seems as if all Nature were keeping the day "holy unto the Lord." We have had quite a full meeting - I have been all day. This forenoon father presented the claims of the Home Missionary Society - speaking particularly of our duty with regard to the great West. He brought to view the great extent of our country, comparing its territory, lakes, rivers etc. with the Eastern World, - its vast resources, its rapid increase from emigration. His text was "Occupy till I come." Luke 19; 13. O what a charge was that which Christ committed to his followers - and how little has been done towards converting the world. I am glad a Sabbath School has been commenced at Jonesboro. Doubtless it will be the means of accomplishing great good. I shall think of you and your Bible Class as often as Sabbath morning cones. Mother was greatly interested in the descriptive part of your last letter, but she says nothing pleased her so much as to know you were engaged in instructing a class of young men in Bible truth. She hopes your efforts may be greatly blessed. Our Sabbath School was reorganized last Sabbath. For a year past I have been a scholar, and have
