User-Contributed Transcription a week ago Monday. Mr. Rider seems very well thinks his face no worse - no better - either that I know of. I think it likely he may show it to Dr. McRuen again this Autumn. 1300 grafts have been inserted in the apple orchard north of the house this spring & summer. The trees look finely. I go out to walk whenever the flies will permit. I have a fine necklace of bites. There are comparatively few strawberries this year. None near here except in the orchard and those are all gathered now. We picked some ripe currants yesterday. Mother sits close by reading a newspaper. Mayo is lying on the floor studying intently an old Geography. He will look at one picture ten minutes or more. Likes pictures better than almost anything else. He says "Now I lay me" very prettily now and always wants to say "Dear Father" next. I could not think that he meant when he first said it, but soon found he meant "Our Father" - Mother has
