User-Contributed Transcription Antoinette December 1851 DunbartonJonesboro, Illinois, January 1852Home, December 2, 1851My dear friend - The last mail brought your letter of November 20 and made my heart glad. I really do not know what I should do without the letters. They do a world of good.I rejoice that your health still continues to improve, and hope you will not venture to remain so late in the Spring as to turn the scale. I should feel so thankful if you can come back from the West well. I supposed it would be next to impossible for me to come East from Illinois after the Lake navigation closes. As you say, it seems you must remain for the winter, then there is no other alternative. When ti projected railroads shall be completed, this difficulty - about winter traveling will be entirely obviated, I suppose.Well, I hope you will enjoy the winter very much and I shall be "happy at home" unless the storms
