User-Contributed Transcription Dunbarton, December 19, 1851Your letter of November 30 came in due season, and though it is somewhat late to night, to think of writing, I believe I must make a beginning. I have been wishing you were here this evening. I seems as if I should have considerable to say to you, but perhaps if you were really here, I could scarcely utter a syllable. I am very apt to do my talking, as Washington did his laughing (inside).This is a lovely evening, and it succeeds a glorious day. Father went to make calls this afternoon, and as mother did not feel quite well enough to go out, I went with him. The sleighing is remarkably fine, and the blue sky to day is perfectly cloudless. So with father for company I enjoyed the ride much, and the calls also. This evening I have been reading to father and
