User-Contributed Transcription Dec. 28 1851-Forenoon text in Psalms 11-4- "The Lord is in his Holy Temple- the Lord's throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eye lids try the children of men". Consider some evidences by which we sinners try ourselves, to know whether indeed we are true disciples of Jesus1. The true Christian loved all in whom he sees the image of his divine master and loves them because they are like Jesus. "We know", says the apostle "that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death."2. A feeling of good will towards all men, is requisites even towards seen enemies. In this we have our Savior's example. He died for sinners, for those even, who were his murderers. It was love and good will to all which led him to give his life to save poor ruined man.3. Delight in the character of God & in communion with him, is an evidence of Christian character. We must love to go to God and tell him our need and our sorrow, and joys, as to a dearly loved friend. $. The Christian loves God's word. It is his daily meditation. He "longs for its precepts". They are his meat and drink, Says the Psalmist. "How sweet are thy words unto my taste! Yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth."
