User-Contributed Transcription repented the Lord that he had made man upon the earth. Object of the discourse to reconcile these apparent opposing declarations of God's word. 1. Consider what is implied in repentance. 1. A change of purpose. 2 A change of heart. 3 A change of unclear conduct, as a fruit. 2. Consider in what sense God does not repent. He does not change his purpose. He does not change his heart. 3. In what sense does he repent? The changes in relation to his external actions or, the dealings of his Providence. - He only seems to man to repent It is in this sense only that the term can be applied. We find illustrations of God's change of providence or treatment of man in the case of the antediluvians , Pharaoh, the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the rebellious Israelites. This subject shows 1. The wisdom of trusting and obeying God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. 2. It shows the folly of forgetfulness of God, and disobedience to his commands.Sept. 7. Mr. Mills from Crawfordville. Preached from Numbers 32.23. "Believe your sin will find you out", Afternoon - Communion service -
