User-Contributed Transcription walked home with one of our No. Miss. Bishop She said she had the most violent opposition at the moment she started. and from parents and family friends. She said the reason was the trial was too great- they wanted her at home and did no feel that they could consent to her leaving them. May God make her path of duty plain. and may she walk therein- May 14, Visited the Gallery of fine arts- Ticket of admittance twice, from Rev William James. Some of the pictures are very beautiful indeed and all are finely executed. In the afternoon Mr. Payer- (at the head of the Normal School) lectured on method of teaching reading to young pupils- He was exceedingly interesting and his instructions are highly valuable. 15th. In the afternoon a lecture from Mr. Paye. a continuation of his former duty: dwelt principaly on teaching reading to older pupils.16. Sab. The day is calm and beautiful. Welcome day of holy rest- day of triumph over death and the grave. Oh that I appreciate this blessedness as I sh'd. Many begin this day with prayer- with ardent desires that God may be glorified and sinners loved, while others hail its coming as a day of [sensual?]
