There's a quaint & quiet corner,
In my soul hath dwelt all day,
With her white hands softly folded,
And her robe of sober gray-
But in vain have brighter dwellers
Sought to frighten her away.

Once today a radiant sparkler,
With a face of roguish glee,
Glided up, and asked demurely
What the corner'd mam might be;
And she raised her eyes & answered
Low and soft, "Humility".

And this little dancer wondered
That she had such lovely eyes
And almost wishes her crimson lips
Could make such sweet replies;
Yet such a face, with such a dress,
Still filled her with surprise.
