We must have some conception of his infinite power. In this he differs from the heathen deities, they are mere stumps or stones, powerless and lifeless. But who can resist Jehovah's might? This people may say, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; he is the saving strength of his anointed".2. Some conception of his omnipresence The gods of the heathen must remain where they are placed, but the Christian's God is everywhere. This presence pervades the memberless worlds that roll in their vast orbits through the regions of infinite space.3. We must know that he is holy.4. That he hates sin. This very love of holiness teaches this. He is just and he will punish the transgression5. We must love the character of God and approve of all his attributes and perfections6. We must cordially acquiescer in his plans, and accept his terms of salvation.I I. Why should we now &c.
