User-Contributed Transcription Rabbi. But they were like "whited sepulchers", there hearts were full of wickedness.Mention some particulars in wh. the doctrine of the Pharisees was deficient. 1. Faith was defective unclear was not the faith "which works by love and purifies the heart", it began & ended in selfishness.2. Their morality was not pleading to God since it consisted chiefly in a strict observance of outward ceremonies. There was no heart in it.3. They depended not on Christ to save them but on their own good deeds, and they seemed to have not one doubt of their acceptance with God on this ground of their own merits. In view of this we see that self-complacency is no ground of piety. Though one may stand high in his own opinion, God look within and may view the character in an entirely different light. How then should we search our own hearts and plead with God to search us lest we be deceived. "Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall".Again we learn that many in the last day will be disappointed in their expectations of salvation.Afternoon Mr. MarshallLuke 15.10, "There is joy in the presence of the angels of heaven over one sinner that repenteth."Angels are interested in the transactions of earth, one part of their duty is to minister to the saints, and they
