User-Contributed Transcription To the Friends of Education. The bearer of this is Miss Antoinette B. Putman of Dunbarton N. H., who is one of the first class of teachers sent out by the Board of National Popular Education in Ohio. She came to my care recommended by her clergyman as an exemplary member of the congregational church. She also brought high recommendations from her own former teachers, and also from persons who have employed her as a teacher. Since she has been under my care, I have taken pains to ascertain her qualifications, and I consider her as prepared to teach in the common branches and also in the higher English branches ordinarily pursued in our best Academics. She is also prepared to teach French and Drawing.During the month spent here, she has had daily access to the State Normal School and its Experimental Schools, and has attended a course of Lectures on the details of teaching the elementary branches, delivered by Mr Page, the Principal, expressly for the benefit of our teachers. She has also attended an uncommonly superior course of Lectures on History, and has received a course of instruction on Physiology and the care of health. She has also been taught a system of Calisthenic exercises united with music, and lastly, has received a course of instructions from me on many topics connected with her future duties. I consider Miss Putnam as fully qualified, both morally and intellectually, for any position that may be assigned her, and I commend her to the kindness and care of my friends
