User-Contributed Transcription satisfied with his whole course. Capt. Pendleton had two apoplectic fits about three weeks since - was thought to be almost well, walking about the house etc. when he had another & it is now considered very doubtful whether he will recover. Drs. Rich & Snell, two real old fashioned betty & attend him - will not have Dr. McRuen. Eliab says they feed him on Calomel & Croton Oil. Our people think if he does not get well, he will not die of apoplexy but of medicine. Eliab has been with him a good deal. You know Dr. Rich won't allow a bit of cold water about a patient. If he should be taken away, it might seriously affect business matters all around. I was very glad to hear of Isaac's safe arrival at Dunbarton. I should think he would begin to feel uneasy about business Rufus Crosby came home from Kansas
