He had had an application, and will probably acept the situation of Sec. of the Am. Board, unless Bangorians positively won't let him! Mr. Tappan has left us and gone to Charlestown Mass. We have no minister now -dependent upon students which is sorry times, as you know. Your shirts shall be attended to as you desire. Will do my best to have them set well. You will please be informed if you are not already aware of the fact, that wide plaits are just now in fashion, since you have had any bosom made. Hence, probably, the reason you observe buttons, fastenings etc. stay put better on others, than your own shirts, as they undoubtedly do on wide plaits than narrow ones. Now, broth', shall I tell you some new all right off in a bunch? Samuel has sold his farm to Daniel Hamlen of stone splitting renown. Eben Greenleaf is going to marry Mary Frost. Naomi Hill is soon to be married to Isaac Lorring, a brother of Abby's husband, who, you reccollect called at our house & vexed us when we were fixing my Herbarium. And, Charles Everett & Angella Dennett have committed matrimony! The circumstances whereof were as follows. Angella was at midnight sabbath before last as usual. Everett never goes, you know - not dressed up, excepting white gloves, which all ladies wear now-adays you know, - after meeting she was seen talking a moment with Parson Jones - then stepped into Mr. Owen's & tarried a few minutes, till Everett came in his every day dress suit with a horse & waggon, carried her to Elder Jones', took her to be his wedded wife & went over to her Father's. Her folks never knew it till the next
