User-Contributed Transcription get it named while I was there, but could not get all parties suited. Eliab wants it called Tonio, and thinks he has a right to name it, as it was born on his birthday. Joseph would like Ralph or Wilder, but I believe the choice is Rodney, Wilder or Waldo. I think they are all pretty names. I tell Charles no matter which he takes first, he must not use but one at a time, or names will not hold out. I do wish you could leave your business and come home a little while, for your own sake, as well as Joseph and the rest of us. It seems as though you ought on account of your health, to give up your cares and labors for a few days at least in this hot summer weather. I think if Joseph was well, enough, he would go on to see you, but he certainly is not able to go anywhere from home now. I do hope when cool weather comes, he will be better, but I don't know. I think we must all try to encourage him as much as it will do to. We (Samuel and I) do have very fine times this summer. His health is as usual, perfect. I have never been in better health, since I can remember. He come from the Mill about half past six usually. Sometimes we ride to Bangor, but usually read sing or talk till bedtime. Do not have so many callers as last summer. We have got a letter of dismission from the Church in Hampden, and intend to write with the Third church in Bangor. Mother had a letter from Aunt Conant while I was at home. She says Baldwin has left cousin Lucy. and is paying his devoirs to another lady. She is thin & poor, but too proud to say anything about it. I fear she is too spunky. Guess I'll leave the other page for Samuel if he wishes to write. Sis LucyI won't be so naughty as I was, but write to me soon.
