User-Contributed Transcription is a real Hypocondriac. He is very bad indeed some days -groans so you can hear him all over the house. It is very distressing to see any one in such a state. What must it be to endure it? I don't wonder people call it the horrors. Samuel went down one morning, and seeing him sitting by the fire with a very long face, spoke in a cheerful tone, "good morning Mr. Crosby" - "It is'nt me - 'tis Satan," was the reply. His great burden seems to be that he has sinner away the day of grace. Grandma Crosby is very sick indeed - we have thought for some days that she could not live, but she seems more comfortable this morning. How thankful we all ought to be for health - of body and mind. Ans how highly we have been blessed in that respect as a family. I have thought of it this fall a great deal. Samuel and I too, while there has been so much sickness, and death on every side, we have enjoyed almost perfect health ever since we were married. What a tremendous storm last night - and yet continues. I fear we shall hear sad tidings from the sea. I suppose Eliab had written to you about the fire in Bangor - Strickland's Hock are gone. They are preparing to build again. Pestilence, fire and flood. There has been a great deal of housebrakings & robbery of all kinds since the Cholera in Bangor. There is considerable excitement here about Cooledge nowadays, what do you hear about him and what do you think? - Letter from Cousin Maria and Charles Harmon last week. I have fixed your shirts - they are all ready for you if you come home, or if it is not worth while I can send them. Shall I? Nov. 1st. I though Samuel was going to write
