Among all the names they have thought of, they say they shall decide between Merton & Caroll - They have given Earnest the "go by," notwithstanding Mallie's fear that she should be supplanted in another quarter! She never thought of Caroll to go with Carleton - wonders you did not take it. The little fellow is a cunning little round head with quite a pretty phiz even now, & really a high forehead - grows fat every day - cries very little, sleeps most all the time - Eliab fidgets if he coughs or sneezes or wrinkles up his nose! If you were here, would'nt Mallie & I have some fun with you about various things? Did you ever notice, when you were here & the Camp stove on the flower stand, the shadows of the different plants on the ceiling overhead? They are very beautiful - I never saw
