User-Contributed Transcription to do for each of them, as I do for Percie, I think I should avail myself of the opportunity. Alice Sargent came here Friday & away yesterday morning. I did my best to make her feel happy and at home, but she could'nt help making a power of excuses for coming here instead of going to the tavern. I enjoyed her visit very much. She has such a kind heart, and is withall so humorous, that one cannot but like her company. She took some roots of running rose back, & some tulip & lily bulb, and slips of my house plants. She says I can get a nice honeysuckle root from Mrs. McClinch by asking her to lay down a branch for me this year, and a barberry bush in the same way from Theoph. Sargent's. I do wish some of you would sometime speak of it, and if it is not too much trouble, I do wish some of the fraternity would tale up a piece of the old high cranberry bush on the interval, and a cinnamon rose bush to come by stage when Isaac does. It is just the right time. Also, if Charlie can get them, I want some balm of gilead buds. I have tried many
