User-Contributed Transcription Milo Dec. 30th 1850.Dear Brother Isaac I hardly know where you are nor where to direct a letter, but we want you to come home. Our dear Joseph is certainly failing failing. He seems better this morning that is, more comfortable and we hope better. Dr. Kimball is here, and thinks him better than last week. Samuel & I came here last Saturday. That morning Joseph had a very distressed turn coughing - or rather could not cough, nor hardly get his breath. The doctor thinks he has not take cold, though in some respects he appears like it. he has not strength to cough, and it is very difficult for him to raise anything from his lungs. The Dr. spoke quite discouragingly about him - said that he might live two or three weeks or a month, and might be taken suddenly without much warning. Joseph has said many times lately "I hope Isaac will come" - He has not said much about it, but we think he does not expect to live a great while. I asked the Dr. what I should write to you this morning. He said his pulse was decidedly better this morning, and he might live till spring. It may be a cold that he will soon get over and be better. Do not mention anything about this letter when you come or write, as Joseph does not know it
