User-Contributed Transcription I will merely tell you that her name is Miss Ely and that she is a clergyman's daughter. Such seem particularly interesting my brothers! He has her daguerreotype here. She is quite a demure looking damsel. There has been nothing done as yet about getting a good likeness of our Mother. I feel anxious about it. William Crosby is much pleased with the idea of going with you, but his Father is so much out of health that he cannot go till fall. We do not like to be in suspense so long about your coming home - we keep expecting you daily. The religious interest continues - perhaps increases. There have been thirty conversions, an we hop, in our Society, mostly among the young. A good deal of interest in the girls high school meetings every morning and frequent evening & day meetings. Almeda thinks there is more than usual serriousness at Milo. When she wrote last Mr. Whidden was very sick - was not expected to live. She says he has seemed to enjoy religion for some time. When they last heard from the Californians, they had got to San Francisco - Everett sick - Monroe very sick - not expected to live. Samuel is full of care and business, as usual
