User-Contributed Transcription Bangor March 9, 1852Dear Brother,We have received two or three letters form you quite recently. I presume you will be expecting one from Bangor by the time this reaches you. Though we so much want to see you, still I think you do wisely to wait awhile before coming East, as it will be better for your health, besides giving you time to stay longer. It seems hardly worth while to come so far for a few days-- though to be sure that would be much better then no visit. We have talked a great deal about sending you papers, except what we could cut out and send; for some reason or other sending papers to you has been one of the things that never get done. Samuel had today gone to the Office to bespeak a Bangor Courier sent regularly to you, till such time as you get tired of it and see for to stop it, besides which I will endeavor to send whatever of interest I may be able to obtain. We have very little news here nowadays except about Spiritual Knockings. Bangor is full of that, and growing fuller! One of our meanest neighbors' daughters had "got 'em" pretty bad. She has entreated them to go away, but to no purpose. They persist in knocking all over and around her
