User-Contributed Transcription Testament and Psalms bound together -very large print. He had letters from you, Ann, Mr. Dole, and a most excellent one from Mr. Dole's sister (who has been long out of health) while I was there. Mr. Dole has left Exeter and returned home for his health. I have just thought of the reason why I did not answer your letter before I went to Milo. The week previous was Commencement you know. Besides attending a part of the exercises, I had company all the week from Mond. till Sat. night. Mond. afternoon Mehitable and Julia Hartwell came to attend Com. staid till Friday. Thursday Charles Harlow happened in to dinner - about 9 in the evening Eliab and Josiah Ricker came to pass the night - staid to breakfast - Friday and sat. Mrs. Capt. Stevenson (who boarded here in the spring) was here. Then early Monday morning I took the stage to Milo. Have bee very busy since I came back. Mond. washed & churned, yesterday baked cleaned house and went shopping for the Milo folks. Mrs. Thaxter, and Charles Harlow, pest that he is, called. I have not the least doubt he is deranged. He appears more and more like it. I do wish he would keep away -how can I make him? His cold, clammy hand makes me think of "Uriah Heap" in "Copperfield" By the way, when you get the rest of that, do not fail to send it on some how or other. I want to see the end there of. Ann will doubtless come home next month unless something new takes place. I think I wrote you that Hannah Moore had gone to Hartford preparatory to going West as a teacher. At Joseph's request, I bought
