User-Contributed Transcription I was last spring, and yet from one week or even month to another, I cannot perceive that I gain at all. I get about the house on my feet, though I cannot step up nor down withouthelp, Yesterday with Samuel's help I got out the front door, round the house and in at the back door, had the back ache all the afternoon to pay for it, but don't know that it injured me any, for I feel about as usual this morning. My appetite is good and I feel quite well most of the time. Eliab has left Brown's for good - really, positively and certainly - no mistake. He has engaged no where else yet. I believe he considers it doubtful whether he can find a situation to suit him this winter. He will write you all about it. A slip of paper containing news of the European and N.A.R.R. which I promised you in my last letter, got mislaid and I forgot to put it in. Mother took it home intending to write immediately, so I presume you have got it before now. Perhaps it was nothing you would care about & very likely you hear all about it by the papers. It was only that the St. Johns folks were determined to go ahead with it, and how much money they had raised. Last week's Independent says "Ground is broken for the great tunnel of 4 miles through Hoosick mountain, for the Troy and Greenfield railroad." Sept . 25 - Mrs. Benjamin Galen Snow, a college acquaintance of yours I believe, was ordained at Brewer - he is an accepted missionary of the American Board, and is destined, I believe, for the Armenians
