Isaac Newton gets his living by teaching music etc. has two hundred dollars per year for singing in the Episcopal church. At the last commencement at Yale, he was sent for to go there & recieved $50.00 for singing three peices at a Concert. Caleb has married a step-daughter of a Professor in Yale College, and is now teaching music in Philadelphia, though he has applied for a situation in Boston as a teacher of the languages. Uncle Peletiak's folks are prospering as well as usual and Uncle Joseph's are all well & happy. Humphrey is teaching school - boarding at home. Addison works with Hannah's husband at shoemaking, Tannery business etc. Maria is at the Normal school, (manual labor) at Lexington, intends to stay a year longer. Uncle Jacob drinks yet. Josiah is teaching in Royalton. Our good friend My. Childs (can you credit the assertion) did "open her head" so wide as to take Mother and Eliab both in. She was graciously pleased to bestow upon Eliab, as a remuneration for sundry errands etc. done by him, a nice broadcloth coat, which belonged to Mr. Childs (which, by the way Mother thinks can be made over into a handsome dress coat for you, so she says you had better not get one till she comes home) also a pr. of pants, a nice comforter, a pr of gloves and a silver dollar. To Mother she did in like manner present calico for a dress, a dollar in money and a quantity of fine bleached cotton, which Mother
