User-Contributed Transcription months past has been the recent Election. But now it is cooled down very much. Politicians have little to say - having "said out". It was an Election of more importance than any previous, in which every energy was exerted, and the result you probably know. Millerism has not made much advance in this village. we had one - Lecturer here in the winter who lectured four to five times, having full houses at first, but grew thinner towards the last, most attending out of mere curiosity. I guess you will think this is rather a disconnected letter, as it is now more than a week since the commencement of it, some one coming in, I was obliged to leave my writing unfinished. Charles had a letter from Cousin Josiah, a few days since, informing us of the death of his mother. The last letter that he wrote to us early in the spring, they were in hopes, that the coming warm weather would be beneficial to her and that she would be more comfortable but it was ordered otherwise, and her spirit has returned to the God who gave it. He writes, that calmly, and with but few struggles, she passed the great change, which awaits all mortals. May 19th at the past 2 o'clock. Prescott's health has been rather poor for some time past, being troubled with a cough
