User-Contributed Transcription also ten galls. of the nicest kind (Porto Rico) Molasses (New years) which was divided with Almeda. I do not hear any news from Bangor - do you? I wrote to Lissie Doe. Expect a letter when she answers that. Mrs. L. and Pres. have gone south this winter. Samuel has got a Scratch! Six dollars. You can hardly imagine what an improvement it is. He is handsome now, if I do say so! There have been three deaths in Milo within as many weeks, Mr. Thompson, old Mr. Dow, & Mr. Verney. Dr. Wilhuis of Brownville died a few weeks since. Left a large family. Mr. Thos. Tash has a son or daughter I misremembered which, People say there is the best school at the Village there has ever been. One Bartlett, a graduate from Waterville teaches. Logan of Atkinson teaches at the Corner. Jamie ? his ear, thumb & fingers one morning. Not very bad, He preaches all the time now at the hall. Very interesting. Excellent sermons. Interesting Bible Class. Baptists have begun to build a meeting house. A good singing school here this winter. Milo has just possessed itself of a Pall cloth. I don't know but some good things may come out of Nazareth even yet! Don't you say anything. It seems to me that Jos. likes Lis Doe pretty well after all, but I can't make him "commit." 'Tis so dark I must stop. Evening , John brought three business letters for Samuel & one for me from Lissie Doe none from Ann. Possibly Charles may get one, however. Please to write much and often this winter. I shall have leisure, and will endeavor to do my part. Love to Uncles, Aunts & Cousins, Good night, Brother. Aff. Sister Lucy.
