User-Contributed Transcription I received two or three days since. What is the reason that you have such a "quantity of resting" to do? Why don't you get strong? It will never do - if that climate is so debilitating and enervating you must leave it. Why in the world don't Isaac preach over some of his old sermons to you? Really, though it is no laughing matter - can't you do something, or take some time? I have desired benefit (and so has Mallie) from what we call cinnamon cordial - It is very palatable & strengthening - I make it often. Dissolve a quantity of gum arabic in hot water - have it as thick as is pleasant to drink - put considerable loaf sugar to it & cinnamon enough to flavor it nicely, then add a little wine or brandy to make it keep well, & to take off the flat taste of the gum arabic. Bottle it up and take a swallow or more, whenever you feel like it. I wish you would try it. It cannot hurt you if it does no good.I suppose Charles has arrived at DuQuoin before now - we are depending upon him
