User-Contributed Transcription Lucy. Bangor Oct. 15 1853 Du Quoin, Nov. 3. 1853 Bangor Oct. 15, 1853Dear Brother & Sister Your last good letter to Mother if at Bangor, and to sister Lucy "when or no'," was received some days since; I have intended every day to write, but "there is always something" to prevent and take up my time. I am not hurrying to make baby's flannel dresses, the autumn winds are blowing and he needs them. Mother came a fortnight ago today - went to Milo last Wednes. We tried to keep her here, but she thought she must go and help Albina get ready for winter. I think she will come back by & by. I hope so, not only on my own account, but because I think she can be more comfortable here in the cold weather. Lizzie is drawing Percie out on the sidewalk and I am improving the time. He is very good indeed, but yet you know a babe needs something done about constantly. He frequently plays an hour at a time without a bit of my care, lips sticking out, talking away as earnestly as you [left-hand side and top] do up my letter for Samuel to take. I presume Eliab keeps you advised in regard to the Temperance movement. He is very much engaged in it. Please to continue to keep on being good, and write often and much to me. Most affectionately, sister Lucy. write what is to be done with the Manuscript in your next.
