Ann writes that there is great complaint about people of the West not receiving letters from their eastern friends while friends on the East receive regularly all that are written. What is the reason? I have written a vast deal of news at different times in my letters, which will probably nearly all be lost to you as you did not get the letters and I have forgotten which it was now! It has been said that willows would not grow well there, but many have tried them recently and find they thrive well. The stones you selected in Boston have come. I was getting along wonderfully gaining very fast four or five weeks ago, but have relapsed with the same old state pretty much. I do manage to get about the house on my feet however, just what is necessary. Samuel went this morning to see Dr Rich. I expect him today to see what can be
