User-Contributed Transcription Lucy - Bangor, Jan 30 1853DuQuoin Feb.1 1853some very fine lectures. Everett says he has not seen a well day since he arrived at Panama on his way to California - He appears better very much better than ever I saw him before - They appear to me as if they feel nearer and will be more to each other than ever before His ill health and misfortunes may make them both worth more to each other & to the world than they would ever have been without them. I wish you could see him - He appears like a gentleman - he is talkative & intelligent - with a quick, subdued manner, somewhat tinged with sadness.I believe in my last I forgot to express the admiration I felt for the presence of mind of the damsel who reached you the mop handle or whatever it was, Nettie - Give my love and respects to her, who ever she is! Has your wrist got well yet? Whenever you write, I wish you would just mention William Crosby, as they inquire so frequently if you wrote about him (though they hear from him often) that we want something to say. We have had a most remarkable winter - bright, warm days succeeding each other week after week - but one storm, and that again - since the 28th of Dec. barely snow enough for sleighing.
