User-Contributed Transcription Hampden Dec 7th 1851Dear Sis John has just come home from his school. he finds it too large and difficult for him to subdue 80 schollars large backward and mischievous, Alfred has been here to night and thinks John would make you a good transit man or a good hand for most anything which you would want if you have to get up a party John would like to go with you if you go on to the Road this winter if you would like to have him, Please to let me Know as soon as you can ascertain any thing definite. We have run off our belts and shut down. Alfred will start Tuesday if you write for him In haste S.W.F.
