User-Contributed Transcription feels it very much indeed - he is so strictly sternly upright that I don't think he would spare or try to shield his own wife, if he thought her guilty - he is investigating the matter as well as he is able. I want to hear the conclusion. I do not yet believe but there will be some explanation to clear her - it is so dreadful for those children. I suppose you have had a nice good visit from Mr. and Mrs. De Witt before now. I am in great haste to hear your opinion of the man and everything about them both. I expect it is Ebenezer, Elnathan, Eldad, or some such name; Anna has been pretty severely disciplined in various ways, and I do hope the rest of her days may pass smoothly & happily. But I cannot cease to wonder at the turn events have taken. Maria and Eliab are coming here to board as soon as the river closes. She is a real good sister - we love her much. She come quite often to see me - we are anticipating nice times this winter, only, Samuel will be away a good deal, and Eliab too, some, I expect. I thought
