User-Contributed Transcription Dear brother, I fain would write you a long letter with an abundance of "Sorrys" that we could not send you things before. We intended to send them by Aron, but he came along sooner than we expected - then Charles carried them to Mr. Cutts, but finding that Mrs. Sargent as going to Bangor last week, he went down to the City & got them again, but ere he got them to Mrs. Sargent's, she was gone; so we were obliged to wait till this week. I am afraid you have needed them very much. The truth is, brother, I go to school, & what with our notable Compositions etc. etc. my time is all taken up, so that unless I stay at home; as today, I can do nothing at all. Do you see Ann often? Why don't she write, & you too. Joseph gets along nicely in school. The scholars have really taken to writing themes. I am in the 17 Section in Algebra. Almeida gets along pretty comfortably with her four men. She tells Smith she must have more than 7/b & i guess she will get more. She has three Roman Catholic Irishmen & one Englishman. A child of William Frost, about 5 years old died last week, buried Sunday. Mrs. Kimball's brother, from Bangor, Herman Horn talks some of commencing trade here soon. A fine man, I guess. What a great snow-storm we have had! Tell Ann when you see her, I will write to her as soon as I can. Charles spends his time breaking out the new road.
